BLACK ART: A BROCKMAN GALLERY LEGACY
Our next meet up:
Gathering + Documentary Screening
Join us for our next SEEN event as we host a special screening of the PBS documentary “Black Art: A Brockman Gallery Legacy.”
This powerful film chronicles the legacy of the Brockman Gallery—an artist-run space in Leimert Park that became a cornerstone of Black art in Los Angeles. Founded by Dale and Alonzo Davis in the 1960s, Brockman helped launch the careers of some of the most influential Black artists of the 20th century.
Come experience the story of a movement that laid the foundation for much of what we do today—and connect with fellow artists, curators, and cultural workers shaping the next chapter.
